The "All Things Horror Presents" Film Night Program Kicks Off January 6th!

Now that it's officially official I can post some of the most exciting news we’ve had at All Things Horror.

Chris and I have been working on a securing a theater and films so we can hold a monthly night where we screen independent horror features and shorts. We strongly believe that there are a huge number of great films and talented film makers that never see the light of day. As someone that spent years book shows, promoting independent bands through college radio, fanzine and websites, and played in bands of dubious talent in many a basement or warehouse space, I have a tremendous appreciation for the Do-It-Yourself aesthetic that many of these film makers bring to their work.

Our first two events are booked at the 30 seat screening theater at the Somerville Theater. We're looking to solely book films and shorts from up and coming film makers that have yet to secure a distribution deal. So far the response from the film community has been amazing. In a little over a week, we’ve received enough features and shorts to fill four programs.

For our first event, we've secured three shorts and a feature film:

Feature
Maidenhead (dir Jim Spanos)-a very different kind of Vampire movie. If you are a fan of Grace, this film acts as a fantastic bookend. Martin (AJ BowenThe Signal, House of the Devil) must procure the fresh blood of virgins in order to care for his elderly father, who has been infected with vampirism. When he meets and falls for Meredith, this threatens the precarious balance of his life. I saw this at the NYC Horror Film Fest and loved it. I spent a long time talking to the director afterwards. It's a beautiful film, very reminiscent of a late 70's/early 80's period piece.

Shorts
Death in Charge dir Devi Snively. Winner Best Short Film 2009 Shriekfest- The Grim Reaper ends up babysitting a snotty ten year old girl after an absentminded mother rushes out the door for a date. Fan of EC comics will love this movie.

Chemical 12-D dir Mac Eldridge Winner of the Audience Award Chicago Filmmakers Citywide Film Fest. A lone doctor races to find a cure for a zombie outbreak. The FX work in this 8 minute short is better than many features I've seen.

The Familiar dir Kody Zimmerman-A young man wants nothing more to become a Vampire, and ends up acting as a personal assistant to one of the undead in this horror/comedy hybrid.

Tickets are a whopping $5.

Since seating is very limited, we're working on a way to do advance sales. If anyone wants to go, we figure the best way right now is email us, and we’ll start a list of attendees. We’ll most likely set up a paypal link in order to reserve seats.

Anyone with questions, email allthingshorroronline@yahoo.com.

Congrats and kudos to you for pulling this off! If i lived in the area, I would definitely attend.

I've been trying to do something similar in Dallas but haven't had much luck. I might hit you up for advice.
